Sonia Barnes-Moorhead

Sonia Barnes-Moorhead is an organizational development consultant based in St. Thomas, USVI conducting work throughout the United States and the Caribbean. Sonia has extensive experience leading, managing and directing the strategic direction of various organizational efforts. Sonia’s consulting work is focused on organizational capacity development, research, strategic planning, and relationship cultivation and management.
Sonia’s professional experience includes working as stockbroker; a policy analyst; a grantmaker (as a program officer with a family
foundation and a national foundation); and as a grant seeker (as

a fundraising professional in the areas of annual giving and capital campaigns).

Sonia holds an M.S. in Urban Policy and Management from the New School University in New York and is currently completing a doctorate in management at Case Western Reserve University, Weatherhead School of Business in Cleveland. Sonia expects to complete her dissertation by August 2005. The focus of her research is in the area of “Leadership and Management in the Nonprofit Sector,” specifically investigating the role of “Emotional Intelligence” in nonprofit management leadership.
