Karen Turner is Mission Director for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for Jamaica and the Caribbean Regional Program. USAID is the US government agency responsible for providing economic development and humanitarian assistance to developing countries around the world.
Ms. Turner is located in Kingston, Jamaica but also oversees a satellite office in Barbados from which USAID manages assistance to ten island nations in the eastern Caribbean, stretching from the Bahamas to Suriname. She manages USAID’s $17 million per year assistance program for Jamaica and the $12 million per year |
Caribbean Regional Program, which is based in Barbados.
Ms. Turner has twenty years of experience working with USAID and has served overseas in Egypt, India, Jerusalem, and Indonesia. Her language experience is with French, Indonesian, and Arabic.
Ms. Turner holds a law degree and a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University and a BA degree in political science and economics from Northwestern University.
