Darryl Lester

Mr. Lester currently serves as the CEO of HindSight Consulting based in Raleigh, North Carolina. The company's motto is “ Inspiring New Philanthropy to Build Equitable Communities” . Mr. Lester is a community organizer, trainer, organizational coach, and community philanthropist.

HindSight Consulting has been organizing and assisting individuals and organizations to develop strategic ways to invest their time, talent, and treasure in order to address issues of race and equity in their communities. His most recent work has

resulted in the launching of four giving circles of African American adults in the South: Birmingham , Alabama , Raleigh-Durham , NC , New Orleans , Louisiana , and Christiansburg , Virginia . Darryl's vision is to create and strengthen community giving in African American communities in the South using giving circle concept. His work is laying the ground work for the building of a strong African American Giving Circle Network in the American South.

Darryl's professional experiences include Director of Community Leadership and Program Director at the Triangle Community Foundation; Program Director, 4-H Youth Development at North Carolina State University; Program Director at N.C. Public Allies; Assistant Dean at UNC-Chapel Hill in the College of Arts & Sciences, Assistant Coordinator of African American Student Affairs at N.C. State University, and Counselor at Shaw University.

Darryl's community and civic involvement includes Former Trustee for the Warner Foundation in Durham , NC ; Board member for the Fund for Southern Communities in Atlanta , Georgia , and Founder of the Next Generation of African American Philanthropists. Darryl is a graduate of the 1996 class of Leadership Triangle and the 2000 inaugural class of the Hull Leadership Program for foundation executives sponsored by the Southeastern Council of Foundations. Darryl has also been involved in organizing African American men in a project called Bridge Builders.

Darryl's formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Economics & Finance from Wofford College in Spartanburg , South Carolina and a Master of Education Degree in Counseling and Psychology from North Carolina State University . He also studied abroad in Lome ', Togo and Ghana in West Africa as well as South Africa .

Darryl is a native of Marion, SC. He currently resides in Raleigh , NC with his wife Dionne and daughter Danielle Nia. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.
